St Ives Lantern Parade
Saturday 1 December
At 5.30pm, as darkness falls, the magical and mystical St Ives Lantern Parade takes to the streets dancing to the rythym of Celtic Samba and their drums. Starting from Market Square and led by our very own Shanty Baba, the parade will head along Fore Street, then down the Slipway onto the Wharf before heading back up to Market Square, High Street and Tregenna Place before finishing in Royal Square for the official Christmas Lights Switch On, the sign that Christmas is really on its way. This year, the Mayor will be joined by a very special guest for the switch on – someone nominated by the people of St Ives.
Don’t stand on the side lines: there will be Lantern-making Workshops on 11 and 18 November (venue and times to be confirmed) so that you and your family can all take part. If you’re a local business, why not Sponsor a Lantern, specially designed and constructed for you – contact hello@stivesindecember for more information.
Please note that there will be road closures throughout the town on Saturday 1 December:

5-8pm St Ives Lantern Parade and Christmas Lights Switch-on – Gabriel Street. Chapel Street. Tregenna Hill, Tregenna Place, High Street, Back Street, Market Place, Lifeboat Hill, Back Lane, Fore Street
