On Super Saturday 1 December, they will both be joining Serena the Snow Queen and taking part in the St Ives Lantern Parade. The parade is sponsored by Cornish Gems and The Coffee Lounge, who will be at the head of the procession with their own crown and coffee cup lanterns. Bespoke lanterns are a great way to support St Ives in December and promote local businesses. This year, we are delighted that Aspects Holidays, Wheel Sara, Cherished Cottages, Cross Estates, The Wave Project and Etsy have all requested specially designed lanterns and will on parade on the night. We’re very proud to be supported by Truro City of Lights, who will be boosting the parade with creative lanterns of their own. There will be dozens of lanterns made at our fabulous community workshops and by local schools – and someone said Olaf the Snowman will also be making an appearance!

Master of Ceremonies Shanty Baba and the Samba Celtica drummers will be setting the rhythm as the parade moves off from Market Square at 5.30pm and dances its way through the streets of St Ives: along Fore Street and around the Wharf, before heading up Lifeboat Hill and onto Royal Square for the official Christmas Lights Switch-On (sponsored by St Ives Tourism Association) at around 6.30pm. The Mayor will be joined for the switch-on by a very special guest,  local Sam Harper Miller, who was nominated by the people of St Ives.

So come along to cheer them on and join in all the fun.

There’s free parking in town but please note the following road closures: 12-8pm: Fore Street, Back Lane plus from 5-8pm: Gabriel Street, Chapel Street, Tregenna Hill, Tregenna Place, High Street, Back Street, Market Place, Lifeboat Hill.
