We are delighted that Greenwood Wilson, the local firm of chartered tax advisers and accountants, are sponsoring one of the most hotly contested events on the St Ives in December calendar: the Shop Window Display Competition. Over 60 shops and galleries around the town compete for one (or both) of the coveted annual awards. This year’s suggested theme is The Snow Queen to link with the Kidz R Us pantomime so look out for sparkling window creations in the run up to Christmas.

On Saturday 15 December, we are delighted that Bob Devereux – local poet, artist and raconteur – and artist Anthony Frost will be joining forces and  touring the town to decide on the winner of the Judge’s Shield for Best Overall Window Display. There will also be rosettes for: Best Interpretation of the Theme; Most Humorous Window; Best Small Window.

Last year, The Lilac & Lime, on Tregenna Place, won the Judge’s Shield while John’s Spirits and Wines was the unanimous winner of the People’s Vote. Who will be the lucky winner(s) this time?
