Super Saturday in St Ives

Christmas Competitions Lantern Parade Music Shopping

Saturday 2nd December: put the date in your diary!

It’s Super Saturday in St Ives as we kick-start a month of magic and merriment in the run-up to Christmas and New Year:

  • Father Christmas arrives into the harbour in the afternoon with a little help from our friends at the RNLI and will be in his Winter Wonderland Grotto to hear all the children’s Christmas wishes.
  • Fair Mo will be holding its traditional fair in St Ia’s Church; KidzRUs are hosting their annual bazaar with sneaky previews of their pantomime; Etsy Makers Cornwall will be at the Guildhall.
  • The centre of town will be traffic free for you to enjoy all the great shopping and refreshments that St Ives has to offer.
  • We’ll also be launching our popular Town Treasure Hunt and the Shop Window Display Competition.

And if that wasn’t enough, the famous St Ives Lantern Parade hits the town early evening and, led by Father Christmas, will parade to Royal Square to meet the Mayor for the official Christmas Lights Switch-on.

So make sure you don’t miss out on all the fun for all the family:

Saturday 2nd December is Super Saturday in St Ives!

Countdown to Christmas

Countdown to Christmas

Excitement is already beginning to rise in St Ives with only two weeks to go until the Christmas celebrations get under way: this year’s St Ives in December is going to be the biggest and best yet.

With family-friendly events running up to New Year, there will be something for everyone. Children will delight in the arrival of Santa on Fri 4th Dec as he heads into St Ives harbour with a little help from the local RNLI team. But they’re also in for a big surprise since the Three Camels and their Kings have travelled many miles (actually from Joseph’s Amazing Camels in Warwickshire) for a chance to meet Santa. The camels will be joining in the parade along with puppets, pantomime characters, musicians, jugglers and stilt walkers as they all head to Santa’s Magic Grotto in Fore Street. There will also be an opportunity for children to get to know the camels on the harbour beach later.

Other children’s activities include the Boathouse Puppet Theatre, featuring Mr Humpty Dumpty and Frosty the Snowman plus there’s tricks and treats with Mr Cool Magic, the magician, and his Elves on board the St Erth to St Ives Party Train on the first three Saturdays in December.

The weekend of 4/5/6 December is not to be missed with Vintage Christmas at the Drill Hall, Arts & Crafts Fair at St Ives Arts Centre, Kidz R Us Bazaar and Late Night Shopping on Friday and Saturday. Lots of gifts to choose for that special person – and you can also take part in the Town Treasure Hunt and decide who you think should win the competition for the best shop window display. On Sunday relax with our very own People’s Strictly star, Phil (Barnett) & Friends’ St Ives Christmas Revue.

And there’s much more to come so look out for more news next week, visit our website ( or follow us on Facebook or Twitter. But just make sure you head to St Ives in December.
